DESCRIPTION:This virtual workshop is designed to expand your knowledge of art mediums and show how to combine them with your photographs to create one-of-a-kind mixed media pieces. Our goal is to have you play with each medium and have fun with it\, ultimately deciding which direction works best with your work. Nancy will demonstrate how to enhance your inkjet prints with watercolor\, pastels\, and color pencils in a step by step simple process. Learn how to shoot and print for enhancing and how to select the right images to work with. You will be encouraged to push yourself creatively for a new appreciation of seeing and using color. Instructions on how to prepare your images for the workshop or where to get them printed will be sent upon registration. It’s also important to have good photographs for insurance\, brochures\, art postcards and press announcements. Let’s reduce the stress and learn from a professional. With limited lighting and any style of digital camera or cell phone\, you can easily set up your 2-D and 3-D artwork to make photographs that provide richness of color\, preserve texture and reproduce subtle or dark colors beautifully. This lecture and demonstration will explore camera settings\, lighting set ups for different types of work\, what to know about creating the right shooting environment\, some computer software techniques. SUMMARY:I Ate the Props\, the Art of Food and Drink Photography Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Have you ever seen a mouth-watering photograph on a food blog or in a magazine and thought “I wish I could eat that?” – now you can! Join us for a fun twist to ‘happy hour’\, as we explore the art of food styling and photography using artistic and delicious appetizers and cocktails as your subject matter. \nIn addition to having a good time\, there is a great deal to learn about photography through the practice of lighting\, styling\, composing\, and shooting food and still life setups\, as well as the bonus of getting to eat and drink the props at the end of class! \nBring your cell phone or DSLR and experiment with shooting several different types of setups with food plates and glassware. The styling and food photography is only part of our story. You will also be learning how to do studio lighting from a pro. It is not difficult but there is a thought process that will be important to learn that includes a step by step plan to build a terrific still life or cookbook-ready photograph. Take the skills you will learn at this workshop and capture images of your own culinary creations\, perfect for sharing on social media or creating a self published book of family recipes! \nAlso included with be a discussion and hands on opportunity to work with ‘painting with light’\, a fun technique that is used to create one-of-a-kind images using only a simple flashlight to light your subject. \nThis lecture\, demo and hands-on workshop will help you gain confidence as you learn the secrets of composition\, lighting and shooting that can be applied to any type of photography in any situation. Nancy will share her secrets on both technique and aesthetics through lecture\, discussions\, critiques\, and hands-on opportunities in the landscape of the area.
