SUMMARY:Beginning Digital Photography Workshop

This beginning workshop for adults and mature teens will cover basic digital camera controls and how they relate to lighting\, getting the correct exposure\, getting good color and composition. \nBring your favorite digital camera\, instruction booklet and any accessories you might have.  The goal of this stress-free workshop is to develop a basic understanding of your camera controls while exploring the key elements of photography.  There will be a balance of technical and creative information with a great handout to follow after the workshop. \n“One of the words I often hear from people is ‘afraid’.  “I was afraid to fiddle with it because I was afraid I would not be able to get it back to the settings that would work for me.”  My major goal for this workshop is to help take the fear out of this technology for you. SUMMARY:Framing Your Artwork and Tips on Exhibiting
DESCRIPTION:Nancy J. Ori\, a professional photographer\, teacher and fine art exhibitor for over 35 years\, has a great deal of experience in curating and jurying exhibitions\, as well as preparing photographs and other artwork for display in the home or a serious exhibition. This workshop will help artists think more clearly about how to edit their work in order to create a professional and cohesive presentation with individual style. We will discuss and demonstrate what kind of frame would work best in what type of situation and with what type of art; various framing techniques\, materials and options; and how to best transport\, catalog and store the framed work. This workshop is for artists working in any medium and at any level. \nA big emphasis will be placed on how galleries and museums will judge your presentation as well as what to choose for a juried show.  Some time will be spent on the other materials needed for getting and preparing for a gallery exhibition including how to do some promotion\, pricing your work and things you will need to write up.  There will be lots of time for questions and discussions. The group will be small and the content and demos will be tailored to the needs of the attendees. \nOf great importance is the selection and purchase of all the necessary quality framing materials and tools to complete your project and the demonstration of how to use them. You will then try your hand at measuring and cutting professional looking window mattes as well as cutting glass.  We will look at framing with metal frames as well as recommendations for various types of art pieces into different types of wood frames\, showing different methods of handling the different materials and why you would choose one over the other. We will compare some of the products that are currently available to see which might be best for your work and price. Worth the price of admission is a list of quality vendors to find all the things you need for the process. \nStudents should bring a representative sampling of their actual work if it is small enough to travel easily so we can see how you are currently framing things. If this is not possible\, photos of your work or a laptop with images to share would be fine. Enrollment will be limited. Directions to our location will be given upon receipt of your registration fee.  Bring a lunch or snacks. Coffee\, tea and bottled water will be provided. There will be a half hour break for lunch about halfway through but there is no time to go out with such a full agenda. \nTuition Fee: $140.\nFor More Info: Call 908-790-8820 or email nancyori@comcast.net

SUMMARY:Scotland Photo Tour: The Highlands\, Isle of Skye and Outer Hebrides (SOLD OUT)
DESCRIPTION:Live It\, Love It\, Shoot It\nThe Strabo Photo Tour Collection is proud to announce a special tour to Scotland\, led by accomplished photographer and instructor Nancy Ori. \nTravel to Scotland and photograph the wild landscape of the Highlands\, and the Western Isles. Nancy invites you to join her on this amazing journey. The number of participants is limited to ten\, so sign up early before the trip is full. This itinerary features the Glencoe in the Highlands\, Isle of Skye\, Lewis & Harris in the Outer Hebrides. Each day will be at a relaxed pace\, allowing enough time to photograph the diverse landscape as well as taking in the local history\, people\, and culture. \nAt the meeting point of three sea lochs on the west coast of the Scottish mainland is the very photogenic Eilean Donan Castle where we will stop to photograph. On Skye you will photograph the spectacular Quiraing range\, basalt uprising that is the dominant feature of the Trotternish Peninsula. \nWe will be based at Breascleate on the west coast of Lewis\, midway between Callanish and Carloway. Callanish has become an icon of the archaeology of Scotland\, inspiring many artists\, poets\, and photographers. The pale and sometimes ghostly stones have an extraordinary affinity with their landscape. Both to the north and south we will encounter many beautiful and exciting photo opportunities. Harris and Lewis are not separate islands\, despite usually being talked of as if they are. Harris is the southern third of the largest and most northerly of the Western Isles\, most of which forms Lewis. Some say the distinction between the two dates back to a split in the MacLeod clan which dominated the Western Isles for centuries. Others simply point to the range of high mountains that impeded land access between Lewis and Harris\, turning them into virtually separate islands. There are numerous sandy beaches and little coves\, extensive moorland interspersed with lochs\, and many historical sites throughout this sparsely populated area. \nTour Highlights\n• The lochs\, moors\, and mountains of the Highlands.\n• Photograph and explore the diverse landscape of the Isle of Skye.\n• Photograph the historic standing stones in the Outer Hebrides of Lewis and Harris.\n• Maximum of ten participants.\n• Professional photography leader \nAdditional Details: \nSingle room supplement: $695\, single rooms are subject to availability. We try to accommodate single travelers who request single accommodations\, as well as single travelers who are looking for a roommate. If a single room is requested and we are unable to find a suitable roommate\, or you are in a single for another reason\, you will need to pay the single supplement. Nancy Ori. \n*Note: The land cost is based on current exchange rate between the Euro and US dollar. Should these rates change significantly\, there may be an adjustment in the trip price. \nFor more information and to register:\nStrabo Photo Tour Collection:\n607-756-8676\nwww.phototc.com

SUMMARY:Beginning Digital Photography Workshop at Hunterdon Art Museum
DESCRIPTION:Learning how to work your new digital camera properly can make all the difference in the world for you to have fun while making great images of your family and vacations\, or stepping up your photography for exhibition or video projects. By the time you leave\, your fingers and brain will feel very comfortable setting up things in the menu\, and most importantly\, you will understand why you are doing that. These actions are not random. I will show you what is important to know for the type of photographs you like to make and how to quickly think through the process. There will be some hands-on opportunities so we can see some results with what you have learned.” \nWe will also talk a lot about composition because even using all the automatic settings\, your pictures can be much better with more thought given to better composition. Bring a sample of some of your photos to share if you can. If you have printed photos\, they would be easier to share. Bring your camera with charged batteries\, a camera card\, the camera instruction booklet and your lunch. \n\nRegistration: Contact the Hunterdon Art Museum directly with questions and to register at https://hunterdonartmuseum.org/adult-classes-workshops/  908-735-8415\n\n\nTime: April 14\, 2019 from 10am – 4pm\, meet at the museum\nLocation: Hunterdon Art Museum 7 Lower Center Street Clinton\, 08809

SUMMARY:Beginning Digital Photography Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Learning how to work your new digital camera properly can make all the difference in the world for you to have fun while making great images of your family and vacations. Let’s take the fear out of working the camera and looking things up in the manual. \nThis beginning workshop\, also open to teens\, will cover basic digital camera controls and how they relate to lighting\, getting the correct exposure\, getting good color and composition. \nBring your favorite point and shoot or DSLR camera and the instruction booklet.  The goal of this easy workshop is to develop a basic understanding of your camera while exploring the characteristic elements of photography: light and shadow\, color\, close ups\, and composition. \nDirections to the studio will be given upon receipt of your registration.  Bring a sample of some of your printed photos to share and lunch or a snack. Call with any questions. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n I signed up for the workshop because I believed it was time for me to learn what I had always dreaded–the technology of picture taking and thought I would really be bored.  But you were terrific and made it all seem simple to understand.  I was so thankful.  After practicing I will be back! Again\, thanks so much for a delightful day and teaching me something I had feared learning. With warm regards\, Marilyn. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n I just wanted to thank you for your insights shared during the DSLR Workshop last month. You were a tremendous help to me!  I had taken a course last year to try to learn the finer workings of my camera\, without success.   I am a “Film Fossil”.  The digital terminology was like a foreign language to me. Your ability to speak both languages (film and digital) really helped me to make the connections that I needed for the fundamentals of the new technology to start to click. Now\, equipped with your insightful tools\, I am less likely to just retreat back into the “Green Box of Death”.  For that\, I am very grateful. I hope to be a student of yours again in the future.  Michele D. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Sign up now!\nFOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION AND REGISTRATION: 908-790-8820 or email Nancy Ori at  nancyori@comcast.net \, directions and more info will be sent upon registration. \nTO REGISTER FOR THE COURSE: \nStep 1: please click to open and read the Workshop Registration\, Terms and Conditions information below. \nStep 2: Then\, fill in your information and click the check box below it to accept these conditions\, and hit the submit button. \nStep 3: You’ll be taken to the payment options after completing this form. \n \n \n \n TERMS AND CONDITIONS (Click here to open):\n Payments\, Cancellation Policy and Refunds: Please make tuition payments as instructed in your workshop itinerary and/or flyer.
