Through demonstration and hands on opportunities, students will immerse themselves into learning the basics of using their digital camera and progress to an intermediate level during a concentrated learning experience.

Topics will include camera operation and how the controls of shutter speed and aperture relate to the proper use of available light, resolution selection, using the in-camera light meter for better exposure compensation, white balance, tips on good composition and use of accessories. It will also include discussions on the art of seeing photographically and heightening your awareness of light within your photographs. Instructor will use slide presentations, discussions, field shooting, and lighting demonstrations.

Bring your new point and shoot or 35mm style digital camera and instruction book. There will be daily field trips to exercise new information and then critique images during the next session. Lap tops are optional but helpful. The goal is to have complete understanding of how your camera works and how to create better images through comprehension of light.
